Finance Bill, 1999: Allocation of Time Motion.

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders:

(1) The proceedings in the Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service on the Finance Bill, 1999, shall be brought to a conclusion in accordance with the following timetable:

and where proceedings have not concluded by the stated time, they shall be brought to a conclusion by one question, which shall be put from the Chair, and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only those set down or accepted by the Minister for Finance or a Minister of State, nominated as substitute on his behalf.

(2) No Member may claim a division on the proceedings on the Finance Bill, 1999, in the Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service, except on a question put as provided for in accordance with paragraph (1): provided, however, that whenever the Chairman shall have declared the result, in his opinion, of the putting of any question, any Member may have his dissent from such declaration recorded in the official proceedings of the Select Committee by raising his hand when called upon to do so by the Chairman.

(3) The Select Committee shall, in accordance with Standing Order 79B, send a message to the Dáil in relation to the completion of its consideration of the Finance Bill, 1999, not later than Tuesday, 9 March, 1999.
