Vol. 501 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Austin Deasy

Question:

137 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who suffers from scotopic sensitivity syndrome and dyslexia will be allowed to carry out his junior certificate examination by tape in view of the fact that this had been applied for in his first year of secondary school and he will be a disadvantage without this facility. [6560/99]

Applications for special arrangements at the certificate examinations are made by the authorities of the school that the candidate is attending. My Department has confirmed with the school concerned that no application for special arrangements has been made by them in respect of the person named by the Deputy.
