Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

71 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the payments, if any, made to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly whose herd was slaughtered recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6572/99]

The applicant was paid his full entitlement of £1,629.35 under the 1998 cattle headage scheme on 5 November 1998. This grant was subject to forage area restrictions as set out in Clause 27 of the terms and conditions governing the scheme which provides that an applicant qualifying for headage grants may not receive in respect of such grants more than £89.62 per forage hectare subject to an overall stocking rate of 1.4 livestock units per forage hectare.

The applicant was paid his full entitlement of £3,505.75 under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme based on his suckler cow quota of 25 cows. The 80 per cent advance of £2,804.60 was paid on 3 November 1998 and the balance of £701.15 was paid on 3 February 1999.
