Vol. 501 No. 5

Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

121 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding an application for naturalisation for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who is a United Kingdom citizen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6596/99]

The application from the person referred to by the Deputy is well advanced in the standard naturalisation process. Before it can be submitted to me for a decision, however, clarification of some matters with the applicant is necessary.

Officials of my Department are writing to the person referred to and I understand that as soon as these matters are clarified the file will be submitted to me for decision. As soon as full consideration has been given to the case, I will advise both the applicant and the Deputy of my decision.
