Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Army Barracks.

Jack Wall

Question:

153 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the progress, if any, his Department has made regarding the problems of overholders; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7147/99]

Married quarters in barracks are for the use of serving personnel of the Permanent Defence Force. Some former members have failed to vacate such quarters on their discharge from the force and continue in unauthorised occupation of the quarters.

I am currently examining what steps can be taken to resolve this problem, and it is hoped that a viable solution will be arrived at shortly.
