Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

197 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food further to Parliamentary Question No. 328 of 27 January 1999 the reason a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon has heard nothing regarding his area aid in view of the fact the reply stated his application had been processed. [6975/99]

The area aid application for the person concerned was fully processed on 25 January 1999. The person concerned declared a total forage area of 6.21 hectares on his 1999 area aid application but due to an overclaim on one parcel of land the area declared was reduced to 6.04 hectares. All outstanding special beef, suckler cow and cattle headage payments have issued with a slight reduction occurring in the cattle headage payments.

My Department issued a map on the above date to the person concerned asking him to check if the boundaries have been digitised correctly. No reply has been received.

Jim Higgins

Question:

198 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason his Department has not paid 1998 headage to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who has leased land together with his own land which is not being accepted by his Department for the purpose of area aid, headage and so on even though it was accepted for 1997 payment purposes. [6990/99]

The person named submitted an area aid application in respect of 2.29 hectares. While it is now accepted that this person's area was in fact 4.58 hectares, the appropriate additions of his other areas were not made by him to the application form. My Department has now amended the 1998 area claimed to 4.58 hectares. All 1998 area aid based payments will issue based on this adjusted area as soon as possible.

Michael Ring

Question:

199 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the area aid unit has reduced the number of hectares declared a total forage area on digitisation for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; the new area in this regard in view of the fact that the land has not changed in any way; and if a Department official will call and walk the land to determine the exact forage area of this land. [6995/99]

I have arranged for an area aid inspection to be carried out on the area claimed by the person named.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

200 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when 1998 headage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal. [6997/99]

There was a problem with parcels of land on the area aid application of the person concerned. The person named was contacted and further maps were received. The area aid application for the person named is being finalised and any outstanding payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Liam Aylward

Question:

201 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange early approval of an installation aid grant application by a person (details supplied) in County Carlow in view of the fact the application was made in early January 1999 through the Bagenalstown office, County Carlow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7028/99]

The application in this case is currently being processed. If everything is found to be in order payment will be made within the next six weeks.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

202 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when 1996 cattle headage and suckler cow payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7029/99]

The herdowner lodged an appeal on 23 October 1997 concerning his 1996 suckler cow premium/cattle headage application. The herdowner was requested to submit information regarding a tag number on 3 July 1998. Five reminders have issued to him since then but to date no reply has been received. On receipt of a reply the appeal will be finalised.

Enda Kenny

Question:

203 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if 1996 cattle headage payments outstanding for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo have been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7126/99]

The person named received his full entitlement of £3,360 under the 1996 cattle headage scheme on 4 November 1996. He also received his full entitlements under the 1996 suckler cow premium scheme, the 1996 special beef premium scheme, the 1996 sheep headage scheme, the 1996 ewe premium scheme and the BSE compensation schemes. He did not however, qualify under the 1996 extensification premium scheme, as his stocking density of 1.47 livestock units per hectare, based on his 77.3 reckonable livestock units and his forage area of 52.4 hectares as declared on his 1996 area aid application, exceeded the eligible stocking density of less than 1.4 livestock units per hectare.
