Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

John Bruton

Question:

217 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the support, if any, given to an application for funding sought by Summerhill Active Retirement Group, Summerhill, County Meath under the European Network of Older Volunteers; and if he will allocate a significant amount of funds to the organisation which is doing invaluable work for older people nationwide in view of the fact the application was unsuccessful. [7003/99]

I understand that an application by the Summerhill Active Retirement Group for European funding was unsuccessful. My Department was not involved in the decision-making process.

I acknowledge the useful work being undertaken by the Summerhill group on behalf of older people, and will sympathetically consider an application for a grant from the National Lottery funding at my disposal.
