Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Question:

357 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí employed in the Tallaght Garda station, Dublin 24; the proposals, if any, he has to increase the number of personnel at this station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6971/99]

The detailed deployment of Garda personnel to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the current personnel strength of Tallaght Garda station as of 3 March 1999 is 136, all ranks.

I am further informed by the Garda authorities that they are satisfied that the staffing strength of the station is adequate to meet the current demands placed on it. The situation will, however, be kept under review and when additional resources next become available the needs of Tallaght District will be fully considered in the overall context of the needs of other Garda districts throughout the country.
