Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Currie

Question:

438 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, on establishing a Gaelscoil in Lucan, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7163/99]

I take it that the Deputy's question relates to the provision of a building for Gaelscoil Naomh Phádraig, Lucan, County Dublin. The position is that the building contract for a new school was placed before Christmas and construction is currently under way.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

439 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science when the extension to St. Edward's primary school, County Sligo, will be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7253/99]

The architectural planning process for an extension to St. Edward's primary school has been initiated, and my Department has been in contact with the school management concerning the appointment of a design team. On receipt of a response form the school management, the planning of the project can be advanced. At this early stage in the planning process, it is not possible to say when the extension will be available.
