Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Film Industry Development.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

74 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands her views on the potential of the independent sector to provide jobs in the area of film making and television production; the Government's proposals, if any, to assist in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6917/99]

The matters raised by the Deputy are among those which I understand will be addressed in the report to be submitted to me shortly by the film industry strategic review group – Think Tank. That report will be making recommendations for a strategic plan for the future development of the film industry in Ireland including the potential for job creation. The report will be carefully examined by me and other relevant State agencies involved in training and job creation.
