Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Public-Private Partnerships.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

124 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he has authorised the participation by his Department or any rel evant State body in any public-private partnership; the number, if any, of these projects under way; if there are any possible public private partnerships under negotiation between his Department and private investors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6707/99]

At present there are no public-private partnerships in operation in which my Department or associated state bodies are participants. However, my Department and associated State bodies do co-operate closely with the private sector across a range of activities. An example of this is a joint venture between the Marine Institute and Marine Technology Ltd. to develop and operate a technical research and development support base in Galway.
