Question:

151 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Defence when the L.E. Ciara and the L.E. Orla were purchased; the individuals from whom they were purchased; the amount of money paid for each ship; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7025/99]

L.E. Orla and L.E. Ciara were acquired from the British Ministry of Defence in 1988 at a total cost of £8 million sterling for the two vessels. They were built for the Royal Navy in 1984 and were re-named and commissioned for the Naval Service in 1989.
