160 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if all the positions in the Údarás na Gaeltachta elections on 11 June 1999 will be filled by members voting or if she will make some appointments in conjunction with the elected positions. [7288/99]
The Údarás na Gaeltachta (Amendment) Bill, 1999, will include proposals to increase the number of constituencies for the purposes of elec tions to Údarás na Gaeltachta and to increase the number of persons to be elected to an tÚdarás. In addition to the elected members, it is proposed to make provision for the appointment by the Minister of an independent chairperson and two official representatives (one from the Minister's Department and one from the Department of Finance).
