166 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of reported rape cases in the past five years which involved children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7228/99]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the following are the number of rape cases reported in the last five years where the injured parties were recorded as being under 18 years of age:
