Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

152 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will provide a breakdown of all national lottery funding allocated by his Department in 1998; the individual bodies to which funds were allocated; the amount in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7917/99]

The only purpose of national lottery funding allocated to my Department in 1998 was for the promotion of Irish cultural activities abroad. The national lottery allocation in 1998 was £225,000.

Grants are made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs on the advice of the Cultural Relations Committee and go towards the promotion of Irish cultural artistic events, lecture tours etc. abroad.

I am enclosing a schedule giving a breakdown of the bodies to whom grants were paid in 1998 from the National Lottery allocation.
