Vol. 502 No. 3

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to inform the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ulick Burke – the need to substantially increase funding to the health boards so that subventions to private nursing homes can be increased to realistic levels; (2) Deputy Brian Lenihan – the need for a new 16 classroom primary school in the Littlepace-Castaheaney area of Dublin 15; (3) Deputy Ring – the breakdown in the negotations between Údarás na Gaeltachta and an American medical transcription service which is threatening the creation of 34 jobs in County Mayo; (4) Deputy Stagg – the decision by FÁS to discontinue a community employment project sponsored by Maynooth Community Council in County Kildare; (5) Deputy Keaveney – the announcement of the closure of the Fingal factory, Moville, County Donegal and the urgent need for job creation measures to be implemented in the Inishowen area to counteract several such announcements; (6) Deputy De Rossa – the need to prepare a major events management plan for street events involving large attendances, particularly in view of the harrowing experiences endured by many of those attending the fireworks display in Dublin on 13 March, where inadequate stewarding of public transport could have led to a major disaster; (7) Deputy Durkan – the question of the threatened termination of the Maynooth Community Council community employment scheme with the potential loss of valuable training and employment opportunities; (8) Deputy Coveney – the need to make funds available to ensure Carrigaline, County Cork, continues to have a District Court.

The matters raised by Deputies Ulick Burke, De Rossa, Coveney and Brian Lenihan have been selected for discussion.
