Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Farm Partnerships.

Ulick Burke

Question:

202 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, he has to intro duce a system similar to the French GAEC scheme where genuine, though informal, well-structured family partnerships exist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7765/99]

The option of establishing a farm partnership is available to all families that wish to do so. There may be implications for such partnerships in the context of quota-premium schemes and/or under the disease eradication measures, depending on the arrangements involved. A number of meetings have taken place between officials of my Department and representatives of some interested parties to discuss the specific implications of partnerships in the context of the milk quota regime. These discussions are still continuing.
