Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Willie Penrose

Question:

320 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to ensure a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is admitted to the orthopaedic unit at Tullamore General Hospital to have a hip replacement carried out immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7695/99]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to investigate this matter and to reply directly to the Deputy concerned as a matter of urgency.
