Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Amendment of Constitution.

Question:

435 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position of the Government in relation to a proposal to amend the Constitution to allow persons over the age of 18 to stand for election to the Oireachtas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8302/99]

I presume the question refers to the recently published Private Members' Bill. The Government has not yet considered the matters covered in the Bill.
