Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

628 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will appoint a remedial teacher on a shared basis to Bishop Harty national school, Ballinree, and Gortagarry and Kilkeaery national schools, County Tipperary, in view of the fact that these schools have been applying unsuccessfully for a number of years for a remedial teacher. [8005/99]

I recently announced my decision to extend the remedial teacher service to all primary schools with effect from September next.

My Department is currently making the necessary arrangements for this extension of service.

The schools to which the Deputy refers will be included among those to which the remedial service is being extended. The schools in question will be notified of the precise arrangements for the provision of the service as soon as possible.
