Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Millennium Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

92 Mr. Deenihan asked the Taoiseach if the proposal submitted by Ceol Chiarrai, to provide a Tinteain Centre, at Ballybunion, County Kerry, will be approved by the National Millennium Committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7603/99]

The National Millennium Committee, chaired by the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State, Deputy Brennan, is to advise on project proposals of national significance for inclusion in the Government's millennium programme and also to recommend a system for supporting community, local, county or regional projects which will provide an opportunity for local communities, including in areas of social disadvantage, to participate in the millennium commemoration.

In the context of its mandate, the proposal submitted by Ceol Chiarrai, to provide a Tinteain Centre at Ballybunion, is currently being considered by the National Millennium Committee.
