Vol. 502 No. 4

Written Answers. - Public Holidays.

John Bruton

Question:

39 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans, if any, the Government has to designate additional public holidays in 1999; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1206/99]

The Government recently approved the designation of 31 December 1999 as a special once-off public holiday in celebration of the millennium. On 27 January 1999 I signed regulations under the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997, to give effect to this decision. There are no plans to designate any other additional public holidays in 1999.
