196 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the recent discussions, if any, between Údarás na Gaeltachta and Norsk Hydro; the outcome of the meeting; the steps, if any, being taken to save the jobs of the employees currently placed on protective notice; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 510 of 23 March. The chief executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta met with senior management of the parent company of Norsk Hydro Fuinnimh Teoranta last week to discuss the future of the north Mayo plant. It is too early yet to issue a definitive statement on the outcome. For the information of the Deputy I intend to meet with employees of the company in Mayo early next week.
