Question:

123 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Defence the situation regarding the potential use of Gormanstown Aerodrome for commercial or industrial purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9315/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 11, 22 and 123 together.

A number of proposals have been received from private concerns in relation to the use of Gormanston Aerodrome for aviation purposes. These proposals concern aviation policy generally and as such are a matter for consideration by the Minister for Public Enterprise. The question of the utilisation of the aerodrome for commercial or industrial purposes other than for aviation usage has not arisen.

An implementation plan is being prepared in line with the recommendations of the Price Waterhouse review of the Air Corps and the question of the relocation of the units and serving personnel in Gormanston will be addressed in the context of the implementation plan.
