Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Theresa Ahearn – the dilapidated and totally unacceptable condition of Golden Garda station in County Tipperary; (2) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)– the unsatisfactory nature of the reply to Question No. 115 of 28 April 1999 by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in relation to the public inquiry into the purchase of land for a halting site; (3) Deputy Clune – the need to establish a fund to assist in the provision of a dedicated transport system for the disabled in the context of the action plan being drawn up by the interdepartmental committee under the aegis of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform; (4) Deputy Owen – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to deal with the case of a severely handicapped person (details supplied) who cannot get a personal assistant due to the long waiting list; (5) Deputy Keaveney – the serious interruption of postal communications in the rural Border village of Burnfoot and the distress being caused to local residents; (6) Deputy Deasy – the need to add the boatcove at Ardmore, County Waterford, to the list of harbours which are to be financed under the 1999 small harbours programme; (7) Deputy Deenihan – the closure of Rad Link Limited, Listowel, County Kerry, resulting in the loss of 55 jobs; (8) Deputy Flanagan – the case for the siting of the headquarters of the Irish Sports Council at Portlaoise; and (9) Deputy Enright – the concerns of many social welfare recipients in rural areas regarding access to payment of their pensions which may no longer be available at their local post office from next year.

The matters raised by Deputies Deenihan, Owen, Browne and Flanagan have been selected for discussion.
