Vol. 504 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Liam Aylward

Question:

249 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an additional garda will be appointed to the town of Urlingford, County Kilkenny, in view of the fact there is only one garda at the present time. [12193/99]

The detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the current personnel strength of Urlingford Garda station is one Garda.

I am also informed that the situation will be kept under review and when additional personnel next become available, the needs of Urlingford will be considered in the overall context of the needs of other Garda districts throughout the country.

Austin Currie
