Vol. 504 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Ivor Callely

Question:

265 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, made in relation to regaining possession of premises (details supplied) at Howth Road, Clontarf, Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11902/99]

The return of the former Squash Ireland premises at Clontarf into the possession of the State is at an advanced stage. I had expected the surrender of the property to be achieved some weeks ago and I so informed this House at the time. However, legal searches by the Chief State Solicitor's office revealed undischarged legal charges. That office is now in the process of ensuring that these charges are discharged before surrender. My Department is working closely with the Chief State Solicitor's office and I expect resolution of all outstanding issues in the very near future.
