Vol. 504 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Ivan Yates

Question:

152 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will clarify the proposed new site of a Garda station (details supplied) in Ferns, County Wexford; the Garda authorities' proposals in view of the decision of An Bord Pleanála relating to the telephone mast to be placed on the station; and if this new station will be manned on a full-time or part-time basis or at the present level of manning. [12391/99]

It is intended in due course to replace the existing Garda station in Ferns, County Wexford, with a purpose-built facility. It will be a number of years before funds become available for this development, and no site has yet been acquired for the proposed new station. The provision of a new station will not affect manning levels or the Garda requirement for a radio telecommunications mast.
