Question:

83 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the status of the most recent report delivered by the high level group on trade union recognition; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12349/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 35 and 83 together.

The report of the high level group on trade union recognition has been noted and welcomed by Government and discussions have commenced with the social partners on the implementation of the proposals in the report. Decisions on any legislative initiatives will be a matter for the Government.
