Vol. 504 No. 5

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

Ivor Callely

Question:

76 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the length of time the high level group on trade union recognition has been considering the issue of disputes of special importance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12310/99]

The issue of disputes of special importance was included in the remit of the high level group on trade union recognition when it was reconvened in December 1998. The report submitted to me on 11 March by the group incorporates an agreed proposal that the parties directly involved in providing essential services adopt the key provisions of the code of practice on disputes in essential services (SI No. 1 of 1992). The group further recommended that these arrangements be agreed before the expiry of Partnership 2000.
