Question:

210 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposed statutory instruments being prepared in, or under the auspices of, her Department; the proposed effect of each; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13264/99]

The statutory instruments are being prepared in my Department for the following purposes: to amend Statutory Instrument No. 251 of 1991, the European Communities (Television Broadcasting) Regulations, 1991 so as to bring into effect in Irish Law some of the provisions of Directive 97/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 June 1997 amending Council Directive 89/552/EEC on the co-ordination of certain provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action in member states concerning the pursuit of television broadcasting activities; to make certain technical amendments to the European Communities (Natural Habitats) Regulations, 1997; to update the Údarás na Gaeltachta (Elections) Regulations, 1979 to 1994.
