Vol. 505 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Creed

Question:

154 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the provision of a new secondary school in Dunmanway, County Cork; if a decision will be expedited regarding the location of this school; and if construction will be proceeded with as quickly as possible. [13341/99]

My Department's building unit, in conjunction with County Cork Vocational Education Committee, is currently seeking a suitable site for the location of the new second level school in Dunmanway. Presently, a specific property, which is considered suitable for the proposed project, is the subject of preliminary discussions between the vendor and County Cork VEC. The Deputy can be assured that every effort will be made to expedite the process of site acquisition.

At this stage, it is too early to say when construction of the new school might commence.
