Vol. 505 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Gormley. I call on Deputy Gormley to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of urgent public importance, the findings of the EPA report on water quality in Ireland which shows that one third of rivers are polluted and outlines the serious implications for the future supply of drinking water and the complete failure of the Ministers for the Environment and Local Government and Agriculture and Food to deal with this environmental disaster.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
