Vol. 505 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Question:

116 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Finance if agreement has been reached between his Department and the Department of the Environment and Local Government regarding the total additional expenditure on the local authority housing programme over the next four years; the figure surrounding this additional expenditure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13337/99]

The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government recently announced a multi-annual programme of 22,000 local authority houses over the next four years 2000-2003. Discussions between my Department and the Department of the Environment and Local Government on the cost of the local authority housing programme are continuing. I would expect agreement to be reached in the near future.
