Vol. 505 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Areas of Conservation.

Denis Naughten

Question:

226 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when compensation will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon following the special area of conservation designation of Esker; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13537/99]

Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, will prepare a farm plan for each farmer with lands included in proposed special areas of conservation and any income loss arising from implementing these farm plans will be compensated for. Dúchas will shortly commence a pilot programme for the preparation and implementation of five farm plans. The case referred to by the Deputy will be one of those included in the pilot programme.
