Vol. 505 No. 6

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Question:

201 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason he used the figure of £2 billion in relation to plans to increase public expenditure on the national housing programme over the next four years when agreement between his Department and the Department of Finance on the precise level of funding for this period has yet to be reached; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14470/99]

The figure of £2 billion is the indicative estimate of the cost of the four year multi-annual local authority housing programme which I recently announced. Precise funding requirements will be determined in consultation with the Department of Finance in the normal way.
