Vol. 505 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Tony Gregory

Question:

271 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 254 of 25 May 1999, the specific enrolment required on 30 September 1998 which would have enabled St. Catherine's senior girls school, Dublin 7, to retain the eleventh teacher. [14488/99]

The enrolment requirement for the retention of the eleventh mainstream teacher as at 30 September 1998 is 300 pupils, which represents an improvement on the previous retention figure.

Since the enrolment at St. Catherine's senior girls school was below this figure on 30 September 1998, I regret that there is no basis whereby the eleventh teacher can be retained.
