Vol. 505 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

278 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if the planning for a further extension to Ratoath national school, County Meath, will be progressed as quickly as possible in view of the fact the population in the area is growing at a rapid rate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14525/99]

An extension was recently completed at Ratoath national school, County Meath, to cater for increasing pupil enrolments.

I am aware, however, that Ratoath is experiencing continued population growth due to ongoing housing developments in the area. The implications of these developments for the existing school are currently being assessed in the planning and building unit of my Department.
