Vol. 506 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fishery Policy.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

39 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if moneys will be made available to fund the plan of the strategic review group on fishery policy; when the report will be published; and if any shortfall of EU funding will be made up by the Exchequer. [16036/99]

As I advised the House in my earlier reply, the report by the CFP strategy review group on national investment priorities for the Irish seafood industry is a critical and well founded contribution to the current debate on national investment priorities over the next seven years. I published the review group's report last week and I am committed to working to secure the necessary EU and Exchequer investment support to allow the seafood sector to consolidate and move ahead.
