Vol. 507 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Persons Vehicles.

Noel Ahern

Question:

162 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if persons using specially adapted disabled persons cars can use bus lanes; if this can be done on his instructions; the plans, if any, he has in this regard; if his attention has been drawn to the number of these adapted vehicles in the Dublin area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16944/99]

Full access to bus lanes is at present limited to omnibuses and large public service vehicles. Pedal cycles and taxis may also use with-flow bus lanes. There is no proposal at present to extend the use of bus lanes to disabled persons vehicles, of which some 2,000 are now licensed in Dublin, or to other classes of vehicles.
