Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Naughten – the provision of funding for the establishment of a language unit in County Roscommon; (2) Deputy Connaughton – the non-availability of third level education grants for student nurses who wish to take the one year degree course; (3) Deputy Deasy – the cutting of hedgerows during the nesting season; (4) Deputy Crawford – the waiting lists in the North-Eastern Health Board region which have increased by 75 per cent in the past two years; (5) Deputy Wall – the industrial action at the Kildare VEC offices; (6) Deputy Durkan – the increasing number of decisions which do not appear to show a recognition of all the factors on applications for unemployment assistance or one parent family allowance; (7) Deputy Ring – the timing of an oral hearing for a discontinued invalidity pension for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; (8) Deputy Timmins – the extension of the north Carlow water scheme to Hacketstown; (9) Deputy McGinley – the need to sanction the appointment of a third assistant teacher in Convoy joint national school, County Donegal; (10) Deputy Fitzgerald – the use of the CASA aircraft by the Government for duties other than fishery protection; (11) Deputy Broughan – the urgent need to indicate and secure funding for the partnership companies for the period 2000-06; (12) Deputy Deenihan – the concern among the employees of the area partnership boards regarding the continuation of their jobs after 1999.

The matters raised by Deputies Crawford, Ring, Wall and McGinley have been selected for discussion.
