Intoxicating Liquor Bill, 1999: Order for Second Stage.
Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Licensing Acts, 1833 to 1997, to amend and extend the Registration of Clubs Acts, 1904 to 1995, and to provide for connected matters.
(Mayo): What is the order of the House in relation to this debate? I understand there has been some change to the order and I would like to know whether it is intended to conclude Second Stage tonight and whether it is envisaged, as initially ordered, that we will take all Stages of the Bill?
A guillotine has not been imposed on the Second Stage debate.
(Mayo): The initial order was that we would take Second and Remaining Stages today.
That will be the case if there are not sufficient speakers on Second Stage.
(Mayo): So is that still the situation? If Second Stage concludes, will we proceed to Committee Stage?
That is a matter for the House.

I do not wish to inconvenience either the Ceann Comhairle or the House, but will the Ceann Comhairle read into the record the order of the House on this matter as made this morning?
That is a matter for the Government. The motion before the House is that Second Stage of the Bill be taken now.
With respect to the Ceann Comhairle, when he introduced the Bill he referred to the Intoxicating Liquor Bill, 1999, Order for Second Stage and Second and Remaining Stages.
The Minister has moved that Second Stage be taken now.
It is proposed to take Second Stage only this evening.
The Government has buckled.
It is closing time for the Government.
That will not sell to the voters of south Kerry.
In a maximum time allocation of one hour and 40 minutes and given the interest of the Fine Gael Party in the Bill, we are trying to be sensible about the matter. We hope to get out of here early tonight as we are in our last week.
