John McGuinness

Question:

229 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has investigated the condition of the building of the Holy Spirit school, Goal Road, Kilkenny; the progress, if any, in relation to a report on the school prepared by his Department's professional advisers in 1998; the reasons the board of management of the school has been unable to get a reply from the building unit in Tullamore; if the present conditions of the school buildings constitute a safety hazard; and the action, if any, he will take. [17055/99]

An application has been received from the manager of the Holy Spirit school, Gaol Road, Kilkenny for grant aid towards various works at the school.

The building unit of my Department has been in contact with the local office of public works with a view to having the works undertaken as soon as possible.
