Question:

91 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the top ten payments to farmers under the cattle headage scheme. [17017/99]

The maximum amount payable under the disadvantaged areas cattle headage scheme is £3,360. Entitlement to the maximum grant is based on 40 eligible beef breed suckler cows paid at the rate of £84 each. Under the 1998 cattle headage scheme, 1,825 applicants have to date received this amount.
