Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Creed – the need to establish an inter-agency task force to provide alternative industrial employment in the Duhallow region of north-west Cork in view of the announced closure of De Regt Cable in Kanturk; (2) Deputy Cooper-Flynn – the further development of Knock Regional Airport and the decision by Aer Lingus to discontinue its service to and from Knock at the end of October 1999; (3) Deputy Ulick Burke – the works to be undertaken by the Office of Public Works on the three minor drainage schemes in County Galway; (4) Deputy Bradford – the need to increase the number of towns in County Cork in the town renewal scheme; (5) Deputy Broughan – the need to avoid cutbacks in the community employment programme without prior consultation with the social partners; (6) Deputy Ring – the provision of the ferry service to Clare Island in County Mayo; (7) Deputy Belton – the proposed closure of IEC Electronics, Longford; (8) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the increasing number of robberies on business premises in the counties of Sligo, Leitrim, Longford, Roscommon and Cavan; (9) Deputy Lawlor – the provision of a national school for the Knockmitten parish of Clondalkin; (10) Deputy Deenihan – the need to allow for the export of live cattle from Fenit port in County Kerry; (11) Deputy Shortall – the circumstances surrounding the introduction of section 19 of the Finance Act, 1994; (12) Deputy Higgins (Dublin West)– the arrest of 15 building workers engaged in a peaceful picket at the site of the new Dáil offices; (13) Deputy Timmins – the information available in relation to the sale of property without tender when the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 401 of 29 September 1999 was prepared.

The matters raised by Deputies Broughan, Ulick Burke, Timmins and Bradford have been selected for discussion.
