Question:

187 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed sewerage scheme for Gweedore, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19194/99]

This scheme is included in the 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to advance through planning. The current position is that in November 1998 Donegal County Council was given approval to appoint consultants to update the preliminary report for the scheme and I understand that this updated report is due to be completed shortly.

Jack Wall

Question:

188 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide funding for the proposed sewerage scheme at Ticknevin, Carbury, County Kildare, due to the major difficulties residents are encountering; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19196/99]

The preliminary report for the proposed sewerage scheme was submitted to my Department in May 1988, but has not been approved. As the scheme is not included in the 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme it comes within the terms of my Department's circular letter L9/98 of 22 October 1998. This circular asked each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of the needs for capital works in its area and to prepare a prioritised list of projects based on the assessment. The priority lists will be taken into consideration by my Department when framing future water and sewerage service investment programmes under the next national development plan 2000-2006.
