Vol. 508 No. 5

Written Answers. - Court Staff.

Liam Aylward

Question:

118 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the extent of the anomalies in the grades applied to District Court clerks (details supplied) which is based on the Lysaght report drawn up in 1995 with no regard to rates of pay; and if he will rectify the situation and upgrade the 32 clerks concerned, who are still at higher executive officer level, before they retire. [19410/99]

The matter referred to by the Deputy is under discussion at the departmental council between my Department and the trade union representing the staff in question. These discussions are part of the normal industrial relations mechanism and consequently it would not be appropriate for me to comment on the matter.
