Vol. 508 No. 5

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Penrose. I call on Deputy Penrose to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss an issue of major public importance – the threatened loss of 125 jobs at the Oxford Health plant in Mullingar, the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to intervene to try to avert the job losses and, in the light of significant job losses in the north midlands during the past 12 months, the need for targeted measures to find work for those who have lost their jobs.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
