Vol. 508 No. 5

Written Answers. - Correspondence Delay.

Paul McGrath

Question:

97 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason he has not responded to correspondence in relation to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who is a psychiatric nurse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19420/99]

On receipt of the correspondence referred to by the Deputy, my Department wrote to the Midland Health Board for a written report on the case. This report was received in my Department in July and a reply to the Deputy and to the person concerned was prepared. However, due to an administrative error the reply was not forwarded to my office for issue. A factor which affected this was the unprecedented workload in the nursing policy division at this time.

While the reply has since issued, I would like to express my sincere regret to the Deputy and his constituent for the inadvertent delay.
