Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

170 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if persons (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive cattle and sheep headage payments. [19846/99]

This herdowner's 1999 area aid application has been fully processed and any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Willie Penrose

Question:

171 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if the full premium and area aid payments for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19958/99]

The person named applied under the 1999 ewe premium and sheep headage scheme on 8 January 1999. She applied under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme and 1999 cattle headage scheme on 31 May 1999. She also submitted the 1999 area aid application on 14 May 1999.

The first instalment of the ewe premium scheme on 29 ewes amounting to £301.73 issued on 11 June 1999; payment of the second instalment is due to commence later this month.

The person named has been queried in relation to her area aid application and no payments under the suckler cow or headage schemes will issue pending the resolution of this query. In accordance with the regulations payment may not commence under the suckler premium scheme until 1 November 1999.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

172 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Donegal was not paid REP scheme grants; and the reason his plan is now rejected three years after he made his original application. [19959/99]

The person named was admitted to the REP scheme on 1 November 1996. Following acceptance, a proportion of REPS applications is randomly selected for pre-payment inspection and that was the case in this instance. Pre-payment inspection showed that some five-sixths of the area in the plan as submitted was leased commonage, and represented a part share of a commonage share. This area was deemed ineligible for payment.

The applicant was asked to submit an amended plan but has not done so to date. Further representations from the applicant have been received very recently. These are being actively considered and an early reply will issue.
